Dr. Baum has been setting the standard in outstanding orthodontic care in our area since 2004, creating thousands of healthy smiles for both children and adults. Dr. Baum maintains memberships in prestigious professional organizations such as the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists, he has lectured on behalf of Invisalign, and has been named “Top Orthodontist” by Connecticut Magazine every year since 2010!
Born in North Haven, Dr. Baum has spent most of his life in Connecticut. Dr. Baum received his Bachelor of Science degree from Tufts University in Boston. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Medical Dentistry at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, and ultimately he received his Orthodontic Certificate and a Master’s of Science from SUNY Buffalo.
Dr. Baum and his wife, Shana, have two boys who keep them extremely busy. Both boys are avid hockey players. In addition to the early morning practices, the boys’ hockey travels have taken them to some great weekend destinations including the hockey capitals of the world in Canada (Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, and more!). Dr. Baum is also an avid sports fan and participant. In the winter you can catch him out at the hockey rinks with his sons or skiing; and in the summer kayaking, paddle boarding, or on a tennis court. He is a huge hockey and football fan and loves all things Boston. As a big Bruins, Patriots, and Red Sox supporter; he often finds himself in the minority surrounded by New York fans at the office, including most of the staff!
Dr. Baum receives great enjoyment from his work. However, he will be quick to tell you that the most rewarding parts of his day are his interactions with his patients and seeing their smiles grow.

Baum braces exceeded 5 ⭐️ ‘s. I came for a consultation with Michelle for my 8 yr old son. They explained everything to him before proceeding with photos and X-rays. He was so comfortable that he was ready for the braces procedure in the moment. The staff was very attentive and caring with him. Monica was very kind and he did so well for such a long procedure. Dr Baum you and your staff are amazing.
2 years going to Baum and we love it! My little girl just got braces and I have my consult this week. Worth the drive to get this service.
A couple weeks ago, my daughter had a consultation at Baum Braces. We had several friends who recommended them. The moment we walked in- they made us feel welcome. My daughter was very nervous and they were very understanding and compassionate. The receptionist on the phone as well as the one in the office were both friendly. She suggested the cute game-room, which helped to ease her nerves and distract her. They also offered a coffee/tea station for adults as well. The waiting area was clean and spacious. We did not wait long (about 5-8 minutes max). Nicole did our intake and took the scans. She was very kind, informative, and helped to make my daughter feel comfortable. My daughter was also very excited about the rewards/incentives they offer as well. Dr. Blanck met with us and was also very friendly. He understood my daughter's reservations and answered any questions we had. They were not pushy, were sensitive to diverse needs, and were very amiable. For these reasons, my daughter decided to start the treatment that day (which was HUGE, considering her sensory needs and nerves). From start to finish, we enjoyed our experience there and were ready to start our journey!
