Dr. Baum has been setting the standard in outstanding orthodontic care in our area since 2004, creating thousands of healthy smiles for both children and adults. Dr. Baum maintains memberships in prestigious professional organizations such as the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists, he has lectured on behalf of Invisalign, and has been named “Top Orthodontist” by Connecticut Magazine every year since 2010!
Born in North Haven, Dr. Baum has spent most of his life in Connecticut. Dr. Baum received his Bachelor of Science degree from Tufts University in Boston. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Medical Dentistry at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, and ultimately he received his Orthodontic Certificate and a Master’s of Science from SUNY Buffalo.
Dr. Baum and his wife, Shana, have two boys who keep them extremely busy. Both boys are avid hockey players. In addition to the early morning practices, the boys’ hockey travels have taken them to some great weekend destinations including the hockey capitals of the world in Canada (Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, and more!). Dr. Baum is also an avid sports fan and participant. In the winter you can catch him out at the hockey rinks with his sons or skiing; and in the summer kayaking, paddle boarding, or on a tennis court. He is a huge hockey and football fan and loves all things Boston. As a big Bruins, Patriots, and Red Sox supporter; he often finds himself in the minority surrounded by New York fans at the office, including most of the staff!
Dr. Baum receives great enjoyment from his work. However, he will be quick to tell you that the most rewarding parts of his day are his interactions with his patients and seeing their smiles grow.
My son always loves coming here. Dr. Nyle and Dr. Baum are very polite & always answer all of our questions truthfully. I fully trust their judgement & skill when it comes to my sons ortho case. The team members including Michelle & the ortho assistant Jessica A. were super knowledgeable & helpful throughout the entire appointment from start to finish!
We had a great experience for our first session with Baum Braces for Amelia's 2nd phase treatment. Dr Baum and his staff are really nice, friendly and has very high level of expertise. Highly recommend.

Several of my kids are being treated at Baum Braces and we always have a great experience! The staff is very friendly, the doctors are caring, it’s easy to make appointments and we’re very pleased.
Baum Braces is fantastic! Everyone there is friendly, patient, respectful, and has taken the time to listen to my concerns and answer any and all of my questions. I have two children that I take there, one is currently being ‘watched’ and the other has been fitted out with an expander. We have seen great results since the expander was installed 4-5 months ago. The staff conveniently responds to questions over text and I have always been able to get great appointment times that work with our busy schedules. We have never waited more than a few minutes to be seen once we arrive for our appointments. We were initially referred to a different practice but received a second opinion from Baum Braces and I am so glad we did. I highly recommend giving them a try if you are in need of orthodontic work.
